Srilanka ARMY captured Parappakkadantan.

Security forces personnel operating in Mannar front made another major breakthrough capturing LTTE's stronghold in Parappakkadantan, 4Km north of Giant Tank, in Mannar front , June 28.

Terrorists are used the place as a a firing rang, probably for training requirements, ARMY intelligence says that LTTE top leaders are used the place for operational activities.
Meanwhile, several tombs erected for terror cadres killed in past gun battles were also found in general area Alkaddiveli, between Andankulam and Parappakkadantan.
These areas were under LTTE clutches for more than two decades and it clearly shows the inability of LTTE terrorists to face security forces who are continuously marching towards LTTE strongholds in multi-pronged offensive launched to liberate the Wanni.
ARMY's operations are continuing this area.

Israel and Hamas ceasefire

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has begun,

Under the terms of the truce, Israel will ease its blockade on Gaza and talks to release an Israeli soldier held by Hamas are expected to resume.

Israeli PM, Ehud Olmert, has warned that the truce, which started at 0600 (0300 GMT), will be fragile.

At least 40 rockets and mortars were fired from Gaza at Israel on Wednesday and Israel carried out air strikes.

Another militant group, Islamic Jihad, who lost several members to Israeli air strikes in recent days, claimed responsibility for some of the attacks.

The United States on Wednesday expressed hope that the Gaza ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas would force the militant group to "give up terrorism."

"We hope this means no more rockets will be fired by Hamas at innocent Israelis as well as lead to a better atmosphere for talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority," said U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Gordon Johndroe.

"We appreciate Egypt's efforts and hope they are ultimately successful, but for that to happen, Hamas has to choose to become a legitimate political party and give up terrorism. They can't continue to do both," he said.

Israel on Wednesday officially confirmed an Egyptian-brokered truce with Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip, starting at 6:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) Thursday

England unable to ban fund raising for terrorism.

The British have facilitated fundraising for Tamil Tiger Terrorists for the past 25 years on British soil. These terrorists have openly held events in UK to celebrate suicide bombers and fund their terror war against a democracy. British politicians attend these events in exchange for money and votes from terrorists living in the UK. Here is an example: Senior UK Labour MP Keith Vaz speaking at a rally praising suicide bombers: http://www.spur.asn..au/Keith_Vaz.htm. Then the British went on to become the ally of the U.S. to fight terror!!! It is really odd how a nation that funds terrorism openly can go on to fight it. Now the President of Sri Lanka has brought the attention of the entire world to the double standards of the British that has helped terrorists for a quarter century.

The very recent incident is the Pro-LTTE groups using 'sports events' to raise funds.

Under the guise of a 'Sports Competition' the proscribed terrorist outfit LTTE is working on holding a fund raising campaign through British Tamil Forum (BTF) and Tamil Youth Organisation (TYO) suspected LTTE front organizations, sources from London reveal.

Sources also say that the event has been organized to glorify suicide cadres of the LTTE.

The event is to take place on the 29th of June in London.

The UK's Metropolitan Police and Anti-Terrorism branch have been unable to ban the LTTE's front organizations from conducting such events in the UK as the events are announced only a few days before the event takes place and advertising and marketing of these fundraising events are undertaken by pro-LTTE businesses, mainly retailers, operating in the UK through the distribution of leaflets and posters on shop front windows, the Asiantribune reported.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa in an interview with a UK newspaper this week urged the Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora in the UK to be vigilant of such LTTE clandestine operations carried out to collect funds for the outfit highlighting that supporters of the LTTE were able to raise millions of pounds each year from the Tamil community in Britain, some of whom were coerced into donating the money.

The President reiterated that there is only one kind of terrorists and said "I don't agree that there are good terrorists and bad terrorists.

SriLankan Government dissolves 2 provincial councils

SriLankan Government dissolves 2 provincial councils
North-Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils
The North Central Province was headed by Berty Premalal Dissanayaka and the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council was headed by Maheepala Herath before the government took this decision.
According to government sources, in the North Central Provincial Council, the ruling United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) currently has only 13 member seats against the opposition represented by the United National Party (UNP) with 10 seats, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) with 8 seats, and Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) with 1 seat.
In the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, the UPFA has secured 19 seats against the opposition parties, which include the UNP with 15 member seats, JVP with 10 seats and Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) with 1 seat. The government says the lack of a simple majority will create difficulties in passing resolutions in the two Provincial Councils.
The main opposition the UNP and firebrand leftist party the JVP yesterday fired fresh salvos separately at the Government for its decision to dissolve two Provincial Councils and go for polls, a move which has triggered a series of allegations.
they also saids that this is an extra expend of public funds and wastage.
The government is doing this without any valid reason to fulfil its irrational desire for power during a time when the people are suffering due to the escalating cost of living.
JVP says they go to courts against dissolving.
UNP says they succesfully faced to the election and win it.
